M. Benfante, Fine Art Sculpture

I was born in Washington State but grew up in Southern California. I’ve had little to no formal art training. I’ve taken some classes at the local community college but mostly I just have a knack for drawing. But, I'm no stranger to studying subjects I want to know about.

I’ve had a couple of commercial ventures doing some animation. One was a short stint doing a commercial for Chem Dry and the other a part time job creating video games; the better known one, Warner Brother’s, Space Jam.

Not too long ago I had the good fortune to meet a well known western art sculptor. Mehl Lawson is as well known as a horseman as he is a sculptor of the horse. Meeting Mehl gave me the opportunity to pursue something I had wanted to do for years. Mehl is also a teacher of his craft and I feel so fortunate to be able to call him a mentor.

My humble beginning has started. My first bronzes are here for viewing. Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed creating them.
